My partner works 15 hours a week and is on uc and in work capability group. He will giving up work due to ill health . I’ve tried looking up how much he will get in esa payments , he’s likely to be put in the support group. ESA is showing £77.00 a week but would he be entitled to severe disabled premium etc as he lives on his own. I know whatever he gets will come off his universals credit . But just trying to find out how much in total he would get and also if his rent and council tax is paid.
Unless they need the Class 1 Credits that ESA pays instead of UC's Class 3 ones, or they have significant Deductions from their UC I can see no advantage in claiming NS ESA in parallel to UC, the ESA will be deducted £ for £ from the UC leaving no monetary advantage for having claimed ESA.
There are no Premiums payable with NS ESA which would change the equation.
