PIP Question re medication was created by Caracal
Do you have any idea what would be the DWp's/ assessor's response to whether you agree to take new medication or not?

Doctor offered me new medication which might improve my condition, but comes with greater side effects. I decided against it. But would that count as a positive for points ie showing my condition is worse than before. Or would it count against me, ie they say, well if you took it, you might not qualify for PIP, and we will save money.

Doctor mentions this on letter, so can't include letter with my form, if I don't mention it.

Hi Caracal

Lots of people decide not to take the medications they are offered because of the side effects. This should not count against you. However, I would advise that you actually say what the possible side effects are, as the person reading it will not necessarily be familiar with it. Being offered the medication will not necessarily impact any points you are offered because the assessor won't necessarily correlate that information with your worsening condition against the specific PIP criteria.
