download our guides to completing the UC50 form ? was created by JhD
Hello Gary,
HELP and ADVICE please on *downloading* the Guide to claiming PIP, as I do *not* have a laptop.
I have a Motorola G8 Power mobile phone. It is two or three years old.
My mobile storage says 30.57 GB, of 64 GB used (48% of my storage used)
I do regularly clear the cache and cookies to keep it running as smoothly as possible.
I am claiming PIP for the first time. I'm anxious re: downloading the Guide to claiming PIP into my smartphone because I've read it's 128 pages in size .. Question : what file size is it?
As I'm wondering how much memory it will use?
Question: Also I assume the download will be sent to my email with a link which will open in a new tab when I click on it .. is this correct?
I am quite ill .. I've been too ill to attend a hospital scan and a GP examination (both rearranged now) .. so I now urgently need an extension date for returning my PIP form, but I've rang the correct PIP number every day for the past 10 working days .. and have been kept on hold each time for up to an hour .. and then cut off each day I've tried .. OTHERWISE I'd buy a laptop with next day delivery if you think I might need to?
I am fearful that downloading the Guide might be too much for my mobile .. even though my fear may be unfounded.
I do have fast broadband - so my phone works quickly on any website I want to read from, or when I read The Guardian on the Guardian app for example.
I have very few apps on my phone, as I prefer to keep it working well and fast.
I'd appreciate your knowledge and thoughts on these technicalities Gary.
I'm wondering if it's ok to download the PIP Guide onto my mobile, or might I need to buy a laptop? as soon as?
Thanks,
JhD

Hello,
Advice please on *downloading* the Guide to claiming PIP, as I do *not* have a laptop.
I have an android 'Motorola G8 Power' mobile phone, with a 6.4 inch screen. It is 2-3 yrs old.
My mobile storage says 30.57 GB, of 64 GB used (48% of my storage used)
I do very regularly clear the cache and cookies to keep it running as smoothly and as fast as possible.
Question: what is the *file size* of the PIP Guide download please?
(I can see for example that BBC Sounds on my mobile takes 85 MB of memory, ditto two others similarly approx 80 MB)
Would the download be sent to my email .. with a link from which I can download it into my 'Downloads' file? .. is this correct?
I do have fast broadband - so my phone clicks into pages quickly on any website I want to read from.
I have very few apps on my phone, as I prefer to keep it working well and fast.
I'd appreciate your knowledge and thoughts on these technicalities Gary.
I'm wondering if it's ok to download the PIP Guide onto my mobile? Or might I need to buy a laptop?
Thank you,
Jhd

Hi JhD
Welcome to the forum.
You might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is; www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/faq/forum
I've moved your post to its own topic, we ask members not to post their questions in other member's topics as it can lead to the wrong advice being given or taken.
The downloaded file is a PDF file which is 1.3 mb, I do know of claimants who have downloaded it to their smart phones. I would say it would be easier to read the file on a tablet or laptop as the screen is larger which makes it easier to read.
