PIP REVIEW WAIT TIMES was created by Ella16
Hi
Is anyone aware if there have been any updates from the DWP on PIP Review wait times? I just received my 2nd text message regarding my award review 12 weeks after my 1st text acknowledging receipt of my completed review form. I assume these texts are automated and that ' we will progress your review as soon as we can' simply means no one has actually been able to look at it yet. Does the 35-day/12-month extension still apply or did that never come into being?
How many people are actually called for a new assessment as opposed to a paper review I'm assuming the backlog of new claims will also impact review assessments if deemed necessary.
Final question if you are already on the highest daily living and mobility but report no changes in your condition for which you receive PIP but have an additional new diagnosis of other health issues do you still require a health assessment? I'm attempting to try and prepare myself as due to my health conditions and complications I would further a paper review as an assessment at this time would be extremely difficult for me.
Thanks in advance for any advice

Hi Ella16

We don't have an accurate time frame for review wait times. As always there are regional variations, but where they are we don't know. We do know that some areas are affected by the number of assessors they have available and by the number of claimants, there may be. The shortest time we have heard is 8 weeks and the longest is 86 weeks.

The extension should still be in place www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/news/dwp-offic...month-pip-extensions

I can't give you an exact figure, but the DWP is still giving a telephone assessment to the majority of claimants.

Even if a claimant already has enhanced mobility and enhanced care and says there has been no change in their condition, there is no guarantee about what type of assessment they will be given. It could be paper-based, face-to-face, telephone or video.

If you didn't mention that you wanted a paper-based review when you sent back your form, you can wait to see what happens. If you're offered an assessment type that you don't like you can ask for it to be changed to a paper-based assessment, but be warned the DWP/Assessment Services do not have to agree.
