I hope someone can help as I just paid the 19 membership fee to ask this question only.

I am disabled living in a right to buy bungalow. A life long friend of mine has just found out she is dying and it is her wish that she help me to buy and own my bungalow.
we have looked at her gifting the money to the council
we have looked at me getting a small mortgage with her gifting the rest but on benefits they want to charge me 10 percent interest
We are looking at guarantor mortgages
We looked at mortgages where two people sign up but only one owns the property. perfect we thought. then found out they dont do those for right to buy properties

basically my question is this. how do I get help buying the property with a gift of say 100,000 without it stopping my asa as then I would nt be able to afford to live in the property wether I owned it or not!

ps I can use my discount of 100,000 as a deposit. I am on esa and pip and am very disabled
the council have awarded me right to buy

MAny thanks for any help

Hi Hannahphoenix

I'm sorry, but your question is outside the remit of this forum. You need to speak to a specialist welfare advisor in your area, who can look at your entire case. I've attached a link to see if you can find one in your area. advicelocal.uk/

Hi Hannah

As BIS stated your question is outside the remit of the forum, but.... have you talked to an independant financial adviser (IFA) there is a website called www.unbiased.co.uk, put in your postcode and it will list a number of IFA's you may want to contact 2 or 3 to compare then go with your gut feeling, at the end of the day you can always say no.
