PIP waiting times for review was created by robby
Hi,

just wondering if anyone has any idea on the time limit at this time on waiting for a PIP review? I've been waiting for 19 weeks now and I have heard nothing from PIP, not sure if this is a good or bad thing. The waiting is worrying, just not sure whats going on, would like to know either way.

Many thanks, Rob.

What do you mean by heard nothing about a review?

Has your existing award passed it's End Date without any communication? If it has then you should contact the DWP as soon as possible for an update.

If you have returned an AR1 or PIP2 form and heard nothing more then then are considerable delays in the system, some members have waited 18 months for an assessment. Contact the DWP to make sure that your existing award is being extended automatically.

If you have had an assessment and are waiting for a Decision then we are seeing anything from 4 to 12 weeks.

Hi Gordon, sorry i have not been clear in this. I completed and sent in my pip renewal form at the end of last October and since then i have heard nothing from the DWP/PIP. I have not been asked to attend a medical and i have not had a phone call from them, simply a text at the end of last October to say that they have got my form. If some people are having to wait up to 18 months for completion - then i must be in a long queue, but during the past 19 weeks of waiting for a decision, i have had further treatments, more diagnosis of new illness and i do not know if i should inform them and if i do, will i go right back to the back of queue? The waiting for a decision for me is very worrying, but i know i am not the only one.
Regards, Rob.

Hi Robby

It's awful for you and will feel like a long time waiting to hear, but as you realise, it's not that long compared to some.

With regard to reporting a new illness. For the DWP to take any notice of it for PIP, you need to have been diagnosed three months before you report it and expect to have it for at least nine months afterwards.

If you think this new condition would have an impact on the award you may be offered, then you could contact the DWP and find out the current status of your review and what you should do. If you hadn't already been asked to send in a review form, you would put in for a change of circumstances, and they would send one out. As they already have one from October, you don't want them to get confused - and that's why you should contact them first and explain your situation and see what they say.

If they send you out a new review form, yes, it will delay the decision even longer. You could choose not to contact them at this stage - see how the current review plays out and then put in for a change of circumstances. Whenever you do so, it will trigger another review at some stage.
