PIP and State Pension Query was created by Joan
I applied for PIP in December 2021, and was not awarded any points by the health professional. I have since gone through the review process and lodged an appeal in August 2022, and to date my appeal hasn’t been heard. My question is I am due to get my state pension in a June 2023, so presumably I won’t be eligible then for PIP. Any advice would be much appreciated thank you. Joan

Hi Joan
You put in for your appeal well before you reach state pension age - so if you win, you should be eligible for it. A person can't put in for a new PIP claim after they have reached state pension age. If you don't win - you will be able to put in an application for Attendance Allowance once you reach state pension age.

Thank you so much for clarifying. I did wonder if they have dragged their heels with the appeal in light of me reaching state pension age before they here my appeal. Hopefully it shouldn’t be too long now before they here my appeal. I’ll keep you posted. Thanks Joan
