Help with UC claim, I'm in a mess! was created by trb10
I was on old style ESA and doing permitted work. Unbeknown to me (I miscalculated my pension contributions) I went over the earning threshold in October 22 and only discovered this when my ESA payment wasn't received last week. Consequently I now have to apply for UC but they are refusing to link my claims together as the gap between the two is too big.

They are now asking for a fit note but how can I get one if I am still working my old permitted work hours? Also can I apply for new style ESA, I guess not because again I'm working some hours every week?

Any help appreciated!

Hi trb10

Welcome to the forum.

You might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is; www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/faq/forum

You need to seek specialist help from a Welfare Rights Organisation; advicelocal.uk

As your ESA claimed stopped you have to start again to get placed in the LCWRA group, handing in a fit note starts the 13 week assessment phase. Permitted work is strict; www.gov.uk/government/publications/emplo...itted-work-factsheet

New Style ESA is a contributory benefit. Normally, this means you may be able to get it if you’ve paid or been credited with enough National Insurance contributions in the 2 full tax years before the year you’re claiming in.
