I asked for a change in circumstances from DWP last year and this triggered a move to ADP in Scotland. I have now received a change of circumstances form SSS.

For each descriptor I am being asked when or how has this change happened and on average how often are you affected by the change? I don't know how to answer this as I filled out one or two descriptors for PIP and I never received points for them. The mobility part I have never applied for, I have more understanding how my disability effects me and fits into the mobility descriptor.

Do I answer these questions as if the change has happened recently?

Do I explain I have tried these descriptors before?

Do I answer these questions as best as possible and also explain how my disability effects me regarding each descriptor?

Thank you in advance for any help.

There are two approaches you can take for each question, you may need to mix and match as necessary as you are also describing a change.

First, you can treat the previous Decision as having failed to award points that were due, so you migh mark these as no change but thenn go into detail as to why you meet the requirements of the activity.

The risk is that those assessing you see the words "no change" and investigate no further.

Or, you can treat it as a change, even though it might not be and then provide a detailed answer, again, of why you meet the requirement.

The downside is you will need to provide date of when the change happened, be aware of the the three mnth rule, although there is no reason why you can date the change to one prior to your last assessment or the day after the last Decision was made.

Our PIP Claim guide has more about completing the Review form.

Thank you Gordon, I think it's better I try the latter. I'm not sure of the exact date of my last review, it was late 2020/21. I was very ill at the time. I got it for 3 years but when I phoned DWP last year, they told me I was flagged up to have a review. I know DWP plan to review a year in advance of the current award ending. So I suspect my review was late 2020.

Would it be okay to say these changes happened June/July 2020? Even though they were before this. Would it also be okay if I wanted instead to say I have always had these problems as far as I can remember? It's hard as they want an exact date.

For the descriptors with no change, do I say, no change to these descriptors but write what my limitations are?

Thank you in advance

Hi Kittykatz

When ever I do not know an exact date I use the word "approx Jun/July 2020"

If you say as far back as you remember then you leave yourself open to a question, how far back can you remember? I would always use an approx date, remember you need to be suffering from a condition 3 months in the past going forward for 9 months. So if you had the condition from approx Jun/July 2020 then it covers the 3 months in the past and 9 months going forward.

When you write no change, always write what your limitations are, if you are completing a review form then use your original form as a guide (providing you kept a copy).

You should consider getting help with this form for example from your local Citizen Advice Bureau or you could get assistance from Social Security Scotland Local Delivery team. Their phone no should be in letter sent with the form.

Local Delivery is a free Social Security Scotland service that’s available across Scotland. It’s a way for you to get person-to-person support with an application, or just ask questions about the application process.

Local delivery appointments
A Local Delivery appointment is a meeting with one of Social Security Scotland’s specially trained client support advisers. This can happen at a time that suits you.
