i have no idea whether to appeal or not was created by mumsgirl
Hi, im just writing to ask if people would give me their opinions on what they would do. I realise that ultimately it’s my choice and there is no right or wrong answer but I really don’t know what to do and i’m getting into a state about it lol. Originally I was on PIP standard care for 4 years (after a face to face). I had a renewal and I explained my care needs have increased due to my conditions getting worse and also new conditions that I need help with. I also supplied evidence (reports and proof that I was given aids). So it came as quite a shock that I was only awarded 2 years standard care (paper based). I honestly don’t understand why I got less for more care needs?? I thought I might as least get it for the same length of time and a bonus would have been getting moved to enhanced care or also getting standard mobility.
I then asked for a MD but got the same result. So what i’m really writing to ask is in your opinion would you appeal? I don’t have any further evidence to add because I feel as though I supplied it with the MD.
The added problem (well it’s not a problem lol) is that I am Scottish so I guess I will be transferred to ADP at some point – im thinking maybe it will be when the renewal is due, which I am guessing they will send out the form a year before? And in that case I maybe should just leave it until then and try and get a better award this time, or it better to appeal now (and it may get transferred over). thanks in advance for any advice

We haven't seen huge success in appealing the length of the award although it does happen, you would likely need to provide compelling evidence.

Perhaps other members can give you a better perspective on what to do.

Hi,
If I may.....
My girlfriend has Parkinson`s Disease and was awarded Enhanced for both components of PIP, but only for 3 years. With my encouragement she applied for a Mandatory Reconsideration (1 x A4 side of paper with very little body):

*********************************************

Dear Sir / Madam

Request for Mandatory Reconsideration

I am writing to ask you to reconsider your decision dated 25th October 2021 about my Personal Independence Payment claim.
I had very little help when completing my PIP application, therefore when I was awarded a date limited award I wasn`t aware that I could appeal the length of that award. I have now been advised that I can appeal the length of the award, therefore I would like you to consider the following:

Daily Living Activities
Not contested.
Mobility Activities
Not contested.
Length of award
Contested.

I have been diagnosed with Parkinsonism; this is an incurable, and progressive, medical condition.
I wish to contest the date of 10th October 2024 on the basis that my condition will not improve nor will I get better.
********************************************

Her award was changed to ongoing without the need to start tribunal proceedings.
Hope this helps,
Andy
