I’m assuming there’s a backlog seeing as they’re sending for us all early. Does anyone know how long we wait for an existing claim? I was successful at the tribunal with my last claim (if that makes any difference)& had the form where each question asks 3 questions. (1) If there’s any change (2) How you manage the activity now including use of aids. (3) Changes to help needed or help you get from another person. Thanks.

Bud

If I understand your question correctly, existing claim reviews are taking anywhere from 3 months to around 18 with the majority at the longer end of the range.

The questions on the Review form are the same.

Thank you Gordon.

What happens if they decide not to give an award within the 3 month period, & the tribunal awarded me until October?

Or if I wait 18 months for a review & my award ends in October, do they extend it until the review has taken place?

Thanks

Hi Bud

If your award ends in October 2023 and you have not heard from them by July 2023, you should contact the DWP to find out what is happening with your claim. People should receive extensions if their award is coming to an end, but the picture of people who were given Tribunal awards is variable. Some people have been offered reviews, and others have been told they have to put in for a new claim. That's why you need to know.

Morning Bud. I was in the same position as you and won my Award at Tribunal. I gathered all info together (support letters/ hospital letters/ GP notes) and did a draft application *you can find forms online if you dig. I then phoned up for a ‘Review Form’ 3 months before my Award end date. You need to use the DWP form they send you as it has a QR Code on it.
Use this time to gather all your evidence. It will be treated as a ‘new claim’ not a review as you won at Tribunal. It literally took me 3 months to get everything together. As soon as you phone them a countdown clock begins. Get everything together first. Good Luck.
I also put points awarded and last award dates at the top of each section. I made things as simple as possible. I did a theoretical MR at the same time to ensure all bases were covered.
*Do the work before you phone up for the form*
