PIP Review £rd Extenstion and Blue Badge was created by raindaisy
HI
Just a heads up.
Im on PIP , SR - living ER - Mobility
My review end date was June 2021 .
During Covid this was extended to June 2022.
I was sent Review form , completed and returned June 2022
No Reply. Extended to March 2023 .
Its now March 2023 .
I contacted DWP.
They told me :
quote: Reviews NOT completed are being automatically extended 21 days before the end date.
No, letters informing claimants, are NOT being sent out automatically.
Payments remain in place. Letters of entitlements can be sent , but NOT statement of entitlements ( ie detailed points scored )
Therefore, I requested and got a letter that said " you are entitled to the enhanced rate of PIP until March 2024)
SCC Blue Badge team ask for statement showing points above 12 .
I've just paid my 3rd £10 for a Blue Badge Renewal since June 2022.
My condition has changed and I consider I would score enough points for enhance living. BUT ...seems so long as Im in payment , Im ok . ?
So when my decison is finally made ...there will be an even longer back log of MR and appeals , and that extra money I need atm...will have to wait.
Another , take it or leave it , be grateful , punitive policy of the DWP.
Just Saying.

Hi raindaisy,
Can I ask what you had to do to re-new your bluebadge without a statement of entitlement? The reason I am asking is my award ends in July 2023. I am concerned that I wont get my review done by then and my blue badge will run out
any advice would be gratefully appreciated

I didnt get my review decision and had no new blue badge , then asked , found out it had been extended 6 months, still no decision , asked again, found out it had been extended another year, here I am , no blue badge again...waiting on renewal...sent letter confirming Enhanced mob ...who knows? seems the DWP have no set order of process anymore, and LA blue badge teams won't function without order!?
Just keep pushing buttons ....and hassling both departments.
Sorry not very helpful.

Hi, I was in same position as you last year. Kept ringing Dwp. Which was a waste of time. My blue badge was due to run out in Dec and still didn't have date for assessment or notification for extension by beginning of Dec. Can't manage to get out and about without it so decided to apply direct to the local authority without the PIP award. There was a form to fill in, the same one used when applying with PIP in place, with PIP mobility award the blue badge is automatic and you don' t need to explain you mobility difficulties or provide further evidence - doing it this way I sent medical evidence and explained my mobility difficulties. It was straight forward compared to PIP and I didn't need to go for an assessment with them, although I believe they can ask you to. I received the blue badge within a couple of weeks and it was for 3 years. This was a better option for me than renewing year to year, paying £10 each time and being at the mercy of the Dwp and associated uncertainty. It may be worth looking to do this way too if you are up to it. Hope things work out for you. Pixiegirl
