How do I end my ESA claim? was created by Chb2018
Hello,
I'm in a similar position. Is it still correct that you don't have to tell ESA until you have a job?
I’m currently on Esa support group and SDP.
Although my health is no better, I’ve had enough and would like to start looking for a job up to 25 hours whilst my son is at a specialist school (he’s autistic).

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Chb2018
I have moved your post as you attached it to one that was eight years old and it can get confusing to have replies to individual members on one post.
If a claimant's condition improves, they are supposed to inform the DWP immediately. This is because it may have an impact on the group they are placed in and the money they receive. If a person decides to seek work - there may be some time lapse between the improvement in their health and getting a job.
In your case, you say your health is no better and so it sounds like you currently don't have anything to tell the DWP. However, if you told the DWP you were job hunting, they would probably view that as an improvement in your health and move you out of the support group.

In case you are not aware you can work for less than 16 hours under the ESA Permitted Work rules and still claim ESA.
