Waiting waiting for PIP review decision was created by Beragon
I have been waiting for over a year now for my PIP review to be looked at and have just had another letter saying that my current award will be extended again for another year.
My health has got worse. I have a condition that will never be cured and although it is managed by drugs, every day things get harder and my mobility get worse because of pain.
When I did my review I applied for an increase in the Mobility Component to full rate. I supplied letters from my hospital Consultant and G.P supporting my claim.
I know that if I win, I will be awarded arrears, by my calculation several thousand pounds, but I need the money now to help me get around. ( taxis)
The DWP keep saying to report any change of circumstances. Should I contact them again and remind them of my increasing mobility needs and my increasing pain when walking, or should I just wait until they contact me?
I am worried that their attitude might be " Oh well, there cant be that much wrong with you, less you would have been on the phone every day to us"
What shall I do?

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Beragon
When a claimant rings the DWP, the person they first speak to is a call handler - and they don't have a view of the caller or their medical condition. When a claimant has an assessment, they don't have a record of the claimant's calls trying to find out what is happening.
Only you can decide whether to put in for a change of circumstances, but it that's what the DWP has advised you to do, then you might want to do so.

Sorry for the delay in replying, I have not had a good week. Thank you BIS, I see this is a difficult one to answer, but what would happen if I asked them to reassess me, whilst I am waiting for my review?

Hi Beragon
I can't tell you what will happen. The DWP has advised you to put in for a change of circumstances. If you don't want to do that, you need to discuss it with them and see what will happen if you ask for a review when one is already pending.
