decision maker results after assessment report was created by Mason
Hi,
I've recieved my assessment report and I'm now waiting for the decsion letter. I have to say the assessor was good, she listened to me and the person supporting me and she gave us both time to put our point across. The report is also very thorough and fair - so wanted to share a positive experience about the process as it is so often not like that (including my first claim for PIP!)
I am just wondering though - do you know whether the DM usually accepts the assessors reccommendations or do you often hear about people where the DM goes completely against the report?
Many thanks

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Mason
Thanks for letting us know about your good experience. There are some good assessors out there, but they don't often get a shout-out because of the horrendous time so many people have with poor assessors.
Generally, the Decision-Maker follows the recommendations of the assessor, though it's always possible that they may disagree on a couple of points.

It is nice to be able to share that they can be good. Although I've just missed a couple of calls from DWP so that has ranked the anxiety up!! I'm hoping they just wanted to clarify a couple of things. I've tried to call back but when I got through she said there was nothing on my notes to say that there had even been a call. Looking at different posts it looks like it can either be good news or bad news when they call.
@ferretwhiperer I do know what you mean. My first PIP assessment was f2f and the health care professional really clashed with my sister who was supporting me and I felt the report wasn't 100% in line with the assessment. Then my second ESA assessment the health care professional seemed really sympathetic but when I got the report she seemed to be saying I was fine - or at least didn't meet the descriptors. I got a call from the decision maker after that one (although it was only after I looked back at papaerwork recently I realised this), and she decided I was still entitled to ESA Support group after talking to me. But this last one was very good on the day and in the report. I also said thank you and that was noted in the report - wasn't sure why - either because it doesn't happen often or because it shows I know how to mix with people!

Mason,,Howdy
The ftf seemed to be ok and went smoothly so I thought.
When I received the desision letter, I was gutted/upset at how inaccurate it was,,after what I have learnt from B&M they didn't follow case law, took no note of my Dr's letter that they purchased, on the letter alone I should have been awarded PIP
I'm still not over it, I'm totally shocked by the unfairness and abuse of power,. Hopefully I will see a result at Tribunal, if not, I don't want to think of how I'm going to handle it mentally, It's put me in a bad place and we are struggling financially.
