PIP Face to Face Appointment Query was created by Dalglish60
Hi mods,
My support worker managed to request on my behalf by phone a change of my first pip assessment type from telephone to a face to face this morning. Appointment letter to follow in post.
What notice period are DWP legally obliged to give me prior to the date/time, assessment centre details, this being my first rearranged appointment from initial telephone appointment?

Hi Dalglish60
You should be given seven days' notice of an appointment for an assessment unless you agree to a shorter time period.

What's the DWP policy on claimants recording the pip face to face assessment with recording devices etc..? Plus reasonable adjustments under equality act 2010 like separate waiting room/areas like I've had with ESA face to face assessments...
Thanks

Hi Dalglish60
The assessment centre should be able to record your assessment, and you should warn them that you want this done. You can also record the assessment yourself, but again you will have to let them know in advance because some assessors refuse to be recorded (which they have the right to do).
If you need reasonable adjustments made, it will be up to the assessment centre to tell you whether they can accommodate you. All you can do is ask.

Thanks for the reply...
I've got the downloaded pip advice documents etc...but I'm struggling to address every typical question likely to be asked at assessment given the length of them cos of the impact of my short term working memory with Dyspraxia and SMI and putting in concise order to summarise responses that are relevant to the respective daily living activities descriptors.
Guess what I'm trying to say is what advice is workable/practical to best respond to the possible questions as I fear I'll just end up reiterating word for word what I've described for the relevant daily activities.
Thanks

Hi Dalglish60
I understand your fear, but you're asking a question that I can't possibly answer. I don't know what it's like to be you, with your condition/s and the difficulties that will present in a stressful situation. As I said before, for any reasonable adjustments you need, you will have to ask and see what they say. If you're not giving the answer an assessor wants, they will try and draw more out of you. Try not to put so much pressure on yourself to get it 'right'. You can only do what you can do. However, much you try and prepare for this, you will probably do what most people do afterwards and wish they had written more on their form or said something different in the assessment to a question they've been asked.
