Child DLA was created by Tracywoods
Hi, Could somebody please tell me roughly how long it is taking to get a decision once they have received the claim form back and also what the most likely form of assessment for child DLA is at the moment?

Also if successful (this maybe outside of this forums area) could anybody tell me if the disability element of child tax credits can be backdated to the date DLA is backdated to and what the criteria is for receiving the severely disabled child element of CTT is?

Hi Tracywoods

We cannot give you a time to get a decision as there is a backlog across all departments.
With DLA quite often they go by what is written in the form and supporting documents. DWP may contact for additional information.

If you are successful then the disabled element for CTC will be backdated to when you are awarded DLA.

To get the severely disabled child rate, then you child must be awarded the high rate care component.
