Can I complete the paper PIP claim form by scanning & typing?

Hello,

Rather than completing the PIP paper form fully in handwriting, is it OK to:
- Scan the paper claim form into a PDF
- Type the (long) textual responses (using a PDF editor on a PC)
- Print the PDF after completing the typed parts
- Handwrite any remaining items (Any selection boxes, text additions or corrections)
- Sign and post the paper version (partially typed & partially handwritten).

Whilst there is an online form option, I would prefer the above method if acceptable.

TIA.

Hi Sapphire

You have to return the original form. Personally, I wouldn't do what you suggest because you will then be submitting two forms and it could become confusing.

Fill out the minimum bits that you have to on the form. Write in the boxes "see additional pages X."
Type up all your answers with the question number on separate pages with your name and NI, and page number.

Lots of people do this, and it is an accepted way of doing it.

You can do it your way if you want, but it's not something I would do for the reason given above.

I have done forms the way BIS says, since joining here and reading the logic about not putting any of the actual answer on the booklet boxes, so they have to turn to the additional pages where there is no break in your reply for each question.
Just an additional practical thing, it is OK [as in, it didn't cause any problem for me when I did it for daughter] to guillotine [slice] the fold off the back edge of the paper booklet. This frees the pages to be auto-fed through a commercial copier. You are going to punch to top corner to attach your additional sheets with string/treasury tag anyway to keep it all together.
Just worth knowing, as if you have access to a copier with auto feed it is so much faster than turning pages and lining up o the glass.
