Closing esa claim then cannot cope with work

Hi,
I’m on old style income related esa, if I start a job and close my esa claim, what happens if I cannot cope mentally and physically with the job please??
I’ve heard of rapid reclaim but thought that was for new style esa. I really want to try to work but I’m scared to death of what will happen, would it be a new claim and then have to be universal credit instead of old style income related esa please??
Would I have to go through assessments all over again, as I’m not sure my mental health can handle that,

Many thanks in advance xx

In case you are not aware, you can work for less than 16 hours and you do not earn more than £167 a week under the Permitted Work rules and retain your current ESA award and payments, there's a guide in the ESA area.

If you do close your claim then you can do a rapid reclaim providing no more than 12 weeks have elapsed, this should not require a reassessment.

Can I offer a word of caution, you say you could not cope with an assessment, are you sure you are up to going back to work, the stress of working may well exceed anything that could happen during a reassessment.
