PIP Qu.9 Engaging with other people face to face was created by mrs doyle
Hi,would attending doctors, hospital, dentist type appointments and no engagement with anyone else,be considered as being unable to engage in the normal social way.In the pip guide there is this information;"An upper tribunal judge has ruled that ‘isolated and specific’ examples of being able to interact with
other people, such as being able to talk to the health professional at medical assessment or to staff
in a local shop you go to regularly are not enough to prevent you scoring points". Do you have a link to this specific ruling? many thanks.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Mrs Doyle
No, you don't have to link to the particular ruling, but I'm sure some people now choose to do so. Personally, I only use rulings at MR or Appeal for people, not when sending back a review form.

I replied to someone recently - if you can find my posts..... My Scorer rejected my avoidance of talking to people unless absolutely necessary on the basis that I had no evidence that it causes "overwhelming anxiety" - that's their term.
I said I could "transact" only, not socialise.
That didn't get me any points.
This is partially conjecture, but the assessor commented on how well I could explain things efficiently, sounding "very capable". Well, I am intelligent. Eloquence and loquacity will not help your cause, I think. Uncertainty and lack of confidence in spoken communication would convey a very different level of ability.

Wow;I feel exactly the same. With a phone assessment, the assessor said "I have excellent comunication skills and a high level of awareness and cognition." I have wondered in the past if I should "dumb myself down" and I believe your words;"Well, I am intelligent. Eloquence and loquacity will not help your cause, I think. Uncertainty and lack of confidence in spoken communication would convey a very different level of ability"Totally and exactly how I feel. Many thanks for your post..
