Time taken for IAS to book an assessment for PIP review? was created by jamie.grey
Hello lovely B&W members! I've just received a text acknowledging my PIP review has been passed onto IAS for assessment purposes - finally, after 42 weeks! Does anyone know roughly how long I might have to wait from now, until I might get sent an assessment date? I know it's the age old 'how long is a piece of string' dilemma, but I thought I'd ask anyway. Also, does anyone know whether there's a distance (or travelling time) limit to how far away an assessment centre can be? The nearest ones to me are 55-90 minutes away by public transport which would be difficult for me to access because of the nature of my health issues. Thanks in advance! Jamie

Hi Jamie.grey
You're right to ask, but unfortunately, we have no idea. It could be in a matter of days, a couple of weeks, or it could be much longer. It will depend on the availability of assessors and appointments in your area and the type of assessment.
In the past, people have been asked to travel up to 90 mins away. At the moment, only a small amount of face-to-face assessments are being conducted. If you are asked to do a face-to-face assessment, I would suggest that you ask them to reconsider because of your health issues. At least three or four of our members here had their face-to-face assessments changed at the end of last year when they appealed because of medical difficulties.

Hi jamie.grey
I had the same text 8 Feb this year (a full year after sending review forms back!), I then had another off them on the 25 Feb to say a telephone assessment was booked for the 20 Mar. So wasn't too long after.
