Hi Bcfc07
Unfortunately, sending in a lot of paper evidence does not guarantee a paper-based assessment. Only about 20% of assessments are paper-based. You can appeal and ask them to do a paper-based assessment, but you will need to provide evidence to show that a telephone assessment would cause you "Overwhelming Psychological Distress." This would need a letter from your doctor using the term OPD, and even then, the DWP don't have to accept it. You're now on a very short timescale to do anything. If you think you could get such a letter, you could cancel the appointment, but you would have to accept the second date you were offered.

Hi Bcfc07
I'm sorry that you find yourself in this position. There is always a risk if you put in for a Mandatory Reconsideration that your award gets downgraded further - but it is a very small risk. It is far more likely that they will stand by their decision, and you will stay on standard for both parts. Did you get a copy of the PA4 (assessment report) so you know why you lost out points.? If you haven't got the report, you can ring the DWP and ask for it. It will make it easier to know how to challenge their decision. Getting a copy of the report normally takes 7 to 10 days. If you are worried about it arriving too late for you to put in for your MR - send in the MR and put in a note - saying that you will be sending further comments when the report arrives.
