I retire in November this year and have been told it’s not possible to apply for mobility needs if you are retired. Just checking if this is correct. I am still working but off sick due to pain in joints.

This is correct you cannot receive a Mobility component as new once you reach State Retirement Age.

It's not clear from your post whether you already have an award of ADP or PIP so be aware if you do not, you cannot apply for ADP after you reach SRA, you would need to claim Attendance Allowance which is a form of DLA.

I receive enhanced pip care component. Am I not able to apply for mobility as I am reaching retirement. Or can I apply now before I retire.

Hi Souter

If your mobility has changed then you need to apply for a change of circumstances before you retire as you will not be able to get the mobility component once you reach state pension age.

Check out our guide on the mobility component; benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/pip
