PIP Assessment report

PIP Assessment report was created by Sasha
I just received my PIP assessor’s report. I do not have a decision yet. On the form, the assessor keeps going on about the fact that there is “no current AR1 form”. (PIP review form). It then mentions that the latest AR1 form that they have is from 03/22 and continuously refers to that as “the previous AR1 form”. The reason for this is because they’ve taken so long to complete the assessment, not because I haven’t completed a form. I filled in the form in March 2022 and I still don’t have a decision. (Despite this, the assessor has recommended standard PIP for both - exactly the same points as before. I had a paper based assessment.)

When I phoned and requested the report, the man said he had to warn me that they may need more evidence before they can make a decision so I shouldn’t take too much notice of the report. Do they normally say this? I am concerned the DWP will assume from what the assessor wrote that there is no up to date form. I am well aware that because everything was sent in so long ago, it is all rather out of date. Are they likely to ask me to complete a new AR1 form? I find them such a struggle.

Hi Phillipa C

I don't think the man on the phone should have said that to you. They do sometimes ring and ask for additional information, but if you have had a paper-based decision, I would have expected them to have already done that. I wouldn't expect them to ask you to complete another AR1 form. There have been other members on the forum recently who have been getting decisions after a year or more of waiting, and they never had to fill in a second form.

Thank you. Do you think I ought to contact PIP and point out the assessor’s error over the review form? I just find it really worrying reading through the report because the assessor keeps saying that there is no current form. The assessor’s report was written a whole month ago now though so a DM may have already started looking at it. The assessor has also complained repeatedly that my extra sheets of information (more detailed answers to the questions) were not dated so she doesn’t know when they apply to. She has rather a fixation with dates.

Hi Phillipa C

If it worries you, you can certainly ring and point it out. The decision maker may or may not have started to look at it. The assessor should have been able to see when your answers were uploaded to the system so it would be clear that they are the current ones.
