2nd mandatory reconsideration letter ? was created by Spring 68
Hi all,

Just needs some advice re my daughter's pip application. We are in the process off appealing her application, we have sent a letter for an extension to the appeal process because her mental health condition has deteriorated re going thorough this process from last September. They have just sent her a reply which is a second mandatory reconsideration letter exactly like the first but with a different date, they have not replied to our appeal letter. I have had to take the processes over because her mental health has gone down. She has BPD, severe dyslexia (bottom 3%) and Endometriosis. Its the Endo which has caused the most problems recently she had a private operation but she has scar tissue awaiting for another consultation form the endo specialist at the hospital. She has only scored 2 for her Dyslexia. RE your advice still waiting for all the documents they have on her case re the phone call which she did on her own but they haven't taken what she said re her mental condition and health. She has to stop her university course because her endo was so bad. All advice would be great help. I am going to try the citizens advice as well. she is only 26 and had to fight for everything re her dyslexia all her life. Why haven't they replied to her appeal letter extension? Please help she is worried that this might carry on till this September.

Who are you writing to about this appeal?

If it is the DWP then this is the wrong agency to contact, the Tribunal Service deals with appeals.

The time to make an appeal is defined in law so an extension is not possible but you can make a Late appeal up to 13 months after the date on the MR Notice, you will need to explain why your request is late and those reasons will need to be accepted but I have never known a Late request to be rejected.

You don't mention what activity this is for but I assume you are referring to Reading.

What did they score the two points for (b) or (c), I'm guessing the latter?

There is a switch from "complex" written information to "basic" on descriptor (d), you would need to show the claimant has problems reading words such as "exit" or "stop" on the signage you typically see in shops to score. This is a significantly higher standard than the paragraph or two of text used for the lower test.
