PIP - Diagnosed Brain Injury/Memory Issues/Award Review Success Rates was created by AndyWalker13
Hi
Any advice is always appreciated
I am currently carrying out preparation for my Award Review. To keep it simple I have a diagnosed brain injury through stroke with proof submitted on my last review in 6 years ago. This has significantly affected my memory over the last 6 years to the point I don't recall things from the last few days never mind over a period of 6 years. The Award Review asks how my conditions have changed since my last review. All I know is my conditions feel like they have gotten worse but obviously I cannot remember how I was 6 years ago. I can hardly say how my conditions are if I also have no recall? HELP. I do however have even more medical documentation than on my last review. Thankfully my medical records have been sent to me electronically and I have iro 30-40 significant documents which I am currently printing off, many of which I do not even recognise.
Also, do you have any stats of those that have had a light touch review to what their success rates are compared to those that apply for PIP for the first time?
Once again, many thanks
Andrew

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

If you can't remember accurately how you were then don't worry about it. If you are satisfied that you are now worse, then just indicate a worsened condition and explain how you now meet the PIP descriptors.
Also, it is entirely possible that those assessing you will not look at any previous documentation involved in your award.
You won't be having a Light Touch review, these are reserved for claimants who have an On-Going award, yours will be a standard review. I don't know of any statistics covering the two, but it is certainly possible to receive a reduced award or even no award as a result of this review.

Remember, although the forms are different the criteria you are being assessed against is the same as is the assessment process.

Many thanks Gordon
I did not realise the forms were essentially the same. And if they do not look at previous documentation from 6 years ago, then how would they know what I provide now differs from what I provided then. Them asking how your condition is from 6 years ago makes the whole exercise a mockery. Thank you for your help Gordon
