UC migration stress

UC migration stress was created by spaceinvader
Hi all,

I am in the dreaded process of ‘managed migration’ from income related ESA to UC (I also receive Pip)

I had my very first UC interview (since I completed the claim form last week) yesterday which was an identity appointment. Had to take in my passport etc.

I’ve now been told I need to get a fit note from my doctor as well as attend a ‘commitments’ meeting with a job coach next week. I explained I am currently migrating from ESA and I am also on PIP and was told I still need to produce a fit note and attend the commitments meeting to go through a health assessment?

It took me weeks to get myself together enough to even attend the meeting yesterday (acute anxiety)and even though my uncle drove me there and I knew he was parked outside I was a wreck inside there on my own feeling scrutinised.

I was actually physically sick when I came out of the jobcentre. My head was pounding.

I am really worried about this commitments meeting and health assessment. I didn’t know I would have to go through this if I’m already receiving income related ESA support group and pip?

Do I call them and ask if I can have the commitment meeting via telephone and also, has this happened to anyone else? Is this the norm or have I been given the wrong information?

Thanks in advance for any help/advice

Catherine

Hi spaceinvader,

This is a serious mistake made by the Jobcentre. We have resolved this problem for another member just now by complaining to the Jobcentre management. If you tell me the County where you live I can find the name of the manager. Then you can make a complaint through your online UC journal and hopefully your interview will be cancelled.

Hi David,

Thank you. It’s the Liverpool/Merseyside area.

Hi spaceinvader,

Lynn Fell is the Jobcentreplus District Manager for Liverpool and Merseyside. You could say what you have told me above in your complaint and make it for the attention of Lynn Fell District Manager.
When you have typed out the complaint on your UC Journal, from the drop down list choose Work Coach. Then you can copy and paste the same message and this time from the drop down list choose the option " service issue ". It is important to send the complaint twice as they have been known to get lost in the DWP pipework.
Let me know how you get on .

Thank you for that information. I don’t have an online journal as I did the application via telephone. Would I be able to email them if I can locate an email address?
