Hello,
I wanted to ask if anyone has known or had this situation I'm in. I am on legacy benefits for disability, ESAIR, EDP, SDP and PIP for several years. My mum was diagnosed terminal cancer last month where my parents live in Spain, and I'm here currently flying out 24Sept the day she was starting her first chemo cycle and she is so poorly as is my Dad (age82/83). I currently am due to fly back 22Oct however yesterday we had appointment at Hospital with Oncologist and Mums bloods mean she has to have another weeks rest before restarting chemo, so we have appointments on Tuesday 22nd Oct for bloods to be retaken and Wednesday 23rd October with Onocologist to discuss results and retstarting 2nd cycle of chemotherapy.
Based on this I am changing my flights to be here for Mums Oncology appointment and restarting round 2 of chemo.
My question is my original flights 24/9-22/10 were for 4 weeks am changing them to be here until 26/10 for her appointments and restart chemo to support help my Dad as much as Mum. As I am on on ESA (IR) support group with EDP, SDP and PIP (DLA and Mobility standard), I am aware of the 4 weeks and 12 weeks on PIP. However based on extenuating circumstances as I don't know how long my Mum has left, being here for her next appointment when my Dads memory isn't right since having a stroke 7 years ago, and messed up mums medication I plan to come back and forth, coming back over to my parents in Dec til January through next round of chemo.
I know DWP see as leaving the UK going abroad, as a holiday but like many of us our families live abroad and as my parents are elderly and mum now with terminal diagnosis, helping to care/support my Mum and Dad is vital as my eldest sister has just had knee replacement surgery and cannot fly for 3 months until January, and my middle sister lives in NZ, so there is only me and I've been laid up in bed for 4 days myself last week with chronic pain and is hard trying to manage everything.
Many thanks in advance.
