Hi all,

Have just come across this article in the Canary.~:

www.thecanary.co/uk/analysis/2024/10/18/dwp-wca-changes/

Can anyone verify whether it is correct or not? I am really struggling mentally because of all the changes to benfits that are/maybe happening. This would just be the last straw for me tbh if it went ahead as I am certain I would fail a reformed WCA. I'm beginning to thnk that there is only one way I can end all of the stress and suffering all of this is causing me and that is to end it all.

Hi Kuju2,

This is an anonymous rumour and an easy sensational headline for a journalist. I would not worry now. Details about some Benefit changes will be announced in the Budget next week. Anything major would have to be incorporated in legislation which often gets changed under scrutiny of Parliamentary committees and the House of Lords. So as I say it is far too early to start worrying now.

Hi,

This is called "sensationalistic journalism"; better known as "why let the truth get in the way of a "good" story".

Sensationalistic journalism is described as: "Events and topics in news stories are selected and worded to excite the greatest number of readers and viewers. This style of news reporting encourages biased or emotionally loaded impressions of events rather than neutrality, and may cause a manipulation to the truth of a story."
