I read a report in the Guardian recently about the changes Labour are making to Work Capability Assessment and I think the last sentence said something along the lines that a new Assessment would be due/"sparked"/ arranged if a claimant changed their address - in other words if they moved. I have gone back to look at Guardian articles but cannot find it. Does anybody know if moving will spark a new WCA? Also will moving spark a transfer from ESA to UC? Does it make any difference if you move within the same borough you live in? Thanks everyone for this B&W.
Yes if you are currently receiving Housing Benefit as a tenant and you move to a different Local Authority then you cannot make a new HB claim and you will need to claim UC. This is termed Natural Migration to UC.
I cannot imagine the new Minister for Social Security making a change of address a reason for a medical. That would be illogical. Look out for announcements in the Budget next week and at the BenefitsandWork news section.
