PIP Upgrade was created by Hughie
Hi I am writing to ask if you cane let me know the best way a person can apply for an upgrade to their PIP award if the allocated time period for a reconsideration request has passed. I realize a request may be made up to 13 months after a decision with "just cause" but the person in question does not believe he meets the definition of a just cause. He is just genuinely concerned his level of award is not as high as it should have been.
Thank You, much appreciated.

Hi Hughie

The person in question is out of time to request a MR. If their condition has deteriorated then they can apply for a change in circumstances. In which case if they were successful then the claim will be backdated to the date of the request.

We would advise claimants to check that they may be eligible for a higher award before applying for a Change of Circumstances as they can loose what they already have.

Thank you. I believe they feel much worse. It is their intention to send in a request with a title as Change Of Circumstances and then list the descriptors where they believe things have worsened. They are then going to send it to the same address as they would their review.

Hi Hughie

Your friend will probably find that when the DWP receives his letter - they will send out a review form for him to fill in.
