NOt had my migration letter yet was created by marieukxx
I'm on ESA and not had the UC migration letter yet, I know someone near me who has and has to do it before xmas. Should I be worried?

Hi mariekukxx,

Managed Migration is a phased process lasting until December 2025 ( but there may be changes announced in the Budget). So nothing to worry about at present.

Hi, I am curious, as I have not had my migration letter yet either and I am on ESA(ir) and HB. I was wondering if that person you know who has received the UC migration letter already, do you know if they received an SMS text message regarding the UC Managed Migration letter being sent to them, in addition to them getting the letter in the post?

I was wondering as the DWP sends me SMS messages for both PIP and ESA for things generally to say they are sending a form or that I need to contact them or such things.

Maybe if we can get some members here confirming or denying if they have received text messages from the DWP along with the actual paper form in the post for UC migration then this could help the rest of us worry a little less.

My concern is what if that letter doesn't get delivered or such?
Then we may not know, and possibly have our benefits suddenly stopped and no chance for an appeal or mandatory reconsideration?
I fear that possibility however remote it may be.

Hi cascade,

I have sourced this information online:
How are migration notices sent?
"The legislation refers to ‘issuing’ a notice but doesn’t appear to prescribe how it should be issued. DWP guidance suggests that migration notices are issued by post to those selected (Page 4, Case Manager Gudiance), although this may change.

DWP guidance also suggests that if an individual issued with a migration notice has not made a claim 7 weeks after receiving their migration notice, a reminder notice letter will be issued.

If no claim for UC has been made 10 weeks after the migration notice was issued, a second reminder notice issued. The second reminder is by SMS text if there is a mobile number held, otherwise it is by letter. (Page 5, Case Manager Guidance)
Copies of migration notices can be requested but the original deadline day still applies."

Thanks for that info, yeah they have my number. I would have thought that sending an SMS (text message) with the first notice would have helped relieve some anxiety as it's offers some redundancy and therefore peace of mind that you get two methods of giving the heads up of 3 months to complete the form to migrate to UC.

At 10 weeks that is really close to the 12 weeks that I think they give you to migrate, therefore being only 2 weeks left to submit the form right?

With PIP they let you know by SMS on the first form being sent out for review, which is good practice I think.
I mean, given transitional protection can't be gotten if you miss the managed migration deadline as far as I know, it is incredibly important I would imagine when it comes to letters one can receive and have the adequate time to respond to.

It would be interesting to hear from those who got their migration letters already and who usually get SMS messages from the DWP and to say if they got a SMS text with their migration notice letter or not so we can get an idea how the DWP are actually doing it through members direct experience?
Maybe we could do a poll?

I received a text. However, my application was nothing like filling in a PIP form. It was simply name, address, phone number, DOB etc. There was no where to fill in the impact of conditions or anything like that. It's a quick thing rather than the hours of distress of the likes of a PIP form.
