Joint ESA CLAIM but husband is approaching PENSION age

Hi 👋
My husband and I have a joint ESA claim it's in his name
He is about to reach his pension age in Feb 25 .
My Question is
How much worse off will we be and it says we can defer claiming but also been told ESA will stop regardless
I am guessing this means I will have to claim UC and husband will be on state pension.
Does this also mean we also lose the severe disability we receive as both claim PIP ?
SORRY for long complicated post just really worried and confused
Thank you

Hi BJ,

Don't be sorry ... as this is a very complex issue. That is Mixed Aged Couples and whether they can stay on ESA and Housing Benefit or have to claim UC when one partner hits State Pension age.
Have a look at the guide here
www.housingsystems.co.uk/Portals/0/Docum...AVEm8eg3qY5Hqg%3D%3D
on Mixed Age Couples and Benefits.
If you find the guide confusing it would be best to get guidance from a local Benefits Advice Centre.
