Hi Denise

You can apply for a mandatory reconsideration within one month of your decision letter. If you haven't already, you should get hold of the PA4 (assessor's report) to see why they awarded you 10 points 1d or 1e and not 1f. It won't necessarily be clear - but if helps if you can contradict what is in the report.
a) Should you challenge? I can't tell you what to do here because I'm not an assessor but if you believe they made the wrong decision and want to try and get it overturned you should go for it. When you do so - you need to tell them that you are satisfied with your enhanced daily living award and you are only challenging the mobility component..

b) Does it go right back to a new assessment - although I have suggested you ask them to only look at the mobility - they may look at the whole award. There is always a small risk they could downgrade what they have awarded. It is a small risk, but you need to know it exists. You won't be asked to take another assessment - they will just look at the paperwork they have. The majority of MRs 72% remain unchanged.
