Couples AET and LCWRA was created by Tuppence
Hello, looking for urgent advice please as unable to find clarification on gov.uk
I have LCWRA. and receive PIP daily living and ESA
My partners wages are paid every 4 weeks plus he is self employed but not gainfully.
Last month he just missed the AET and his work coach is now saying he must now meet the couples AET of £1437 per month.
I thought the single person’s threshold applied if one of you had LWCRA?
He provides some care for me but definitely not 35 hrs per week.
Any advice greatfully received thank you

Hi Tuppence,
You say the situation is urgent? I cannot understand how a self employed person can have wages paid every four weeks. Is this PAYE?

Universal Credit are wrong I would advise that your partner contacts his work coach and explains that you have LCWRA so that the AET should be at the single rate of £892 a month.

Hi Gadioli,
Self employed earnings do not count towards the AET.
See below ( but ignore the old £ figures ) data.parliament.uk/DepositedPapers/Files...ty_EarningsV13.0.pdf

Thank you. Yes he has done this but the work coach insists the couples AET applies. He asked my partner to report a change of circumstances to say he is a carer but now the work coach is questioning it and cannot offer an appointment until the deadline of 21 November - when agreeing to incorrect commitments is due.

Hi David, he is both employed (paid 4 weekly) and self employed. It is urgent as they have changed his commitments and want him to agree to couples AET by Thursday 21st.
