ESA Support migration to UC was created by Star2017
I just got my migration letter saying I have three months to apply for UC. I am worried that I’m going to be asked to provide bank statements and I can’t handle the stress of them asking me what the different payments are for etc.
Also I’ve seen that I would get £552 a month from UC is that it? That’s £400 less a month than I get currently from ESA as I get SDP.

Hi Star2017,
I think you are worrying a little too early. Your payments won't decline as you will get Transitional Protection.
I would phone the telephone number of Citizens Advice Help to Claim which is on page 2 of your Migration letter.
They will give you an estimate of your Transitional Protection and assist you in making your new UC claim.
Hope this helps,
David

Hello Star2017,
If you wish, you can look at my locked post at the top of this form, where I highly recommend ringing Citizens Advice Bureau Help to Claim.
I gave a lot of detailed information on my post about my interaction with them, and letter they sent me which you might find helpful.
Best wishes

I did my online claim today and it recognised that I was on ESA but when I submitted the claim, it then popped up in the journal saying “our records show that you are not on these benefits, if you are you should contact them to let them know you are now on UC”
Do I need to contact ESA even though I put that I was on ESA when I filled it in?. Also it says I will get my payment in 5 weeks but I’m due an ESA payment in 2 weeks?. I assumed because I was doing the migration that UC would inform ESA.

Hi Star2017,
Your ESA payments should now have been stopped.
I don't understand why you got that UC Journal message. You can reply to it in the Journal for an explanation.

Hi David,
I now have an email from UC saying "Please sign in to your Universal Credit account and check your Journal for a notification relating to your claim."
which I have done but there isn't anything there, the last thing in my journal is a message I sent them querying whether I needed to contact ESA or not.
