PIP Review

PIP Review was created by CCG
This week I have had my second PIP review-thankfully by phone given the snow here!
A couple of questions that I was asked were ones that I don’t remember having been asked before -

1. Do I have a dog? Or do I enjoy walking a friend or family members’ dog?

2. What kind of holiday do I enjoy? Where do I like to travel to?
Have I been on holiday in the past 3 years?

Has anyone else been asked these questions?

This was my first Maximus Interview and the very pleasant young lady was an Occupational Therapist so she had a good understanding of my conditions.
Whether this will be reflected in her report I will have to wait and see! I’ve learned not to expect accurate reporting.

My Carer was present and covertly recorded the interview - for my own private records so that I can check the accuracy of her report of what I said. My short term memory is impacted by pain and fatigue. The interview went on for 2hours and 20 minutes so I had to ask for several breaks to move around then to lie down to continue the interview.

Maximus phoned me the day before to confirm the interview and to request that I do a feedback interview a week after the appointment - has anyone else been asked to do this?

On the plus side we had multiple phone line problems and she was persistent in phoning back each time that the call disconnected.

Fingers crossed 🤞 I’m hoping to get a longer time period before having to be reassessed again. This time there was such a backlog of new claimants that they gave themselves an extra year in which to complete the process meaning that I had to continue with my Motability car for an extra year! Have others claiming PIP had increased time periods between Assessments as time went on? I have a chronic, long term, deteriorating condition for which there is no cure, so I will only get worse not better.

Many thanks again to everyone on the site for the information and feedback that they share - and especially to the authors of the excellent B&W Guides. Without all this information and the Guides I would have continued to get overwhelmed and ‘timed out’ of the process. I fitted the criteria for well over 20 years before discovering B&W and successfully claiming ESA (support group) and PIP.

Hi CCG,
Firstly I'm very pleased that you found the information on B&W helpful.
Hopefully the assessor will have recognised your disabilities and this will be reflected in the report/decision. Wishing you luck, and please let us know how you get on.
