First Work Commitment Appointment was created by Pukdog
Hi

I have been migrated from Support Group ESA to UC. My first Work Commitment appointment is on Monday. I recieved the appointment yesterday (Thursday).

I put the following in my journal

2024 at 1:33pm
I wish to request a reasonable adjustment under the Equality Act 2010.I have been asked to attend the jobcentre on Monday 25 November at 9.50am to agree my claimant commitment. However, due to my bipolar depression and anxiety I find travelling to places extremely stressful and such journeys cause my condition to increase in severity, often for many weeks.I therefore request that, as a reasonable adjustment, my claimant commitment is discussed and agreed by telephone and that I am allowed to sign the agreement electronically rather than in person. Thank you.

This is a message I created with help from the esa to uc guide.

I called UC helpline today as I slept only 3 hours last night as I have already had to attend a ID appointment on Thursday and I am very anxious and scared and I know this will continue until and after the appointment. I explained and they emailed the work coach.

I recieved this message today.

Thank you for your message, I appreciate & respect the concerns that you have put forward. As we explained to you at your ID verification appointment, this is a mandatory appointment which needs to be attended face to face at the jobcentre. Your work coach can put your request forward after this to consider doing your appointments over the phone. Your work coach will tailor your commitments accordingly

Is there anything else I can do? I understand from the UC website that work commitment appointments can be completed over the telephone and I don't understand why I cannot have that option.

Thanks

Hi Pukdog,

You will have to make a complaint to a manager via your UC Journal as other members in a similar situation have done. If you tell me the County that you live in I can find the manager to complain to.

Hi Pukdog,

I have located 3 managers in the West Midlands as it's a large area. Can you give me your town or city please.
