Managed migration to UC - carers allowance

Managed migration to UC - carers allowance was created by Honey Wesley
I understand that for universal credit purposes carers allowance is deducted pound for pound from the universal credit amount.

Should transitional protection protect me from universal credit deducting the full amount of carers allowance from the amount they will give me?

I used to receive a higher level of allowance for income support because I received disability benefits for my children and me. I think it was worked out on the basis that I was able to effectively receive more income before any deductions were made, which meant that I received income support and carers allowance.
Where as now, I have effectively lost nearly £400 a month (The carers allowance).
The way that my local council calculate council tax reduction is also different under universal credit, so now I am paying £100 a month towards that, whereas I used to have full reduction.

My effective income has therefore drastically reduced, when I wasn’t expecting it to.

Should this be the case?

Hi Honey Wesley,

How long ago did your Managed Migration take place? As a carer are you receiving the Carer's Element of UC?
Transitional Protection should ensure that your UC payment isn't less than your previous Income Support.
Council Tax support though is different and can vary between Local Authorities.
