PIP review tomorrow - Best way to record it myself advice? was created by Greeny1210
Hey guys
as above I have a PIP review (telephone) tomorrow (and I am fully expecting to get shafted as my experience is half of them are shysters) it was meant to be September but I asked for it to be recorded and they said it wasn't possible so I said well get back to me when it is because I have that right now.
Anyway, I don't trust them, so I want to record the call myself and wonder how others have used it.
I do have a call recorder app (cube) which I pay for (I forget 70% of my conversations due to the meds and lack of sleep etc) but it's not that reliable and can record just one side of the call etc sometimes, I will probably try and record on as many devices as possible like an old phone if on loudspeaker.
does anyone know of a better way to record it like a more reliable call recording app etc that ideally starts automatically like Cube did?
Cheers
Greeny

Hi Greeny,
Only way I can think of it to take the call using the handsfree speaker option, and use another phone next to it with the microphone recorder app to pick it up.
Maybe some of our other claimants might be able to suggest anything different/better.
Chris.

That is exactly what I ended up doing mate, seems recording apps are all now useless which isn't great as I rarely remember details of various calls.
The guy seemed sound enough to be fair but you just never know with these things

Hi Greeny,
This is very true. I currently have an app called "The Noise App", which I have been using to record my neighbour playing loud music, stomping about, her washing machine going off at unreasonable hours, and sometimes shouting and a dog barking, and it's that useless that when I sent all my recording to the landlord - they come back with "I can't hear anything you've recorded, so will be dropping the case" - I was fuming, and ended up writing to the company who informed me that mobile phone speakers aren't the best for recording sounds. I said "Well, what's the point in your app then?".
Nobody seems to believe anyone on their good, honest word these days.
Hopefully you'll get the outcome you're looking for.
Chris.

I've never used smartphone apps before so cannot advise on that (I use VoIP with server side call recording nowadays), but back when I used a regular BT line, I just had the phone on loudspeaker and placed an ordinary tape recorder next to it. Quality wasn't fantastic but it was more than good enough to listen through and make notes from. I don't see any reason why you couldn't replicate this with a smartphone on loudspeaker mode, and an inexpensive digital recorder (or another smartphone). As long as you test it first to make sure it records fine.
