Hi,

If someone receives transition protection (SDP) in universal credit as being a carer but becomes no longer entitled to get carer allowance and because of that he is applying for the new style ESA, will he get the transition protection if awarded or it will be removed?

Thank you

Hi a7medbadger,

I cannot answer your question. You will need to rephrase it. Have a read first of this information about the Transitional SDP element and Can I Get the Severe Disability Premium.

1. he was in income support and carer allowance.
2. he was getting sdp because of pip.
3. he got the transition protection after moving to UC
4 . he no longer qualify for carer allowance.
5. he is going to apply for out of work disability benefits.

The question is: is he still entitled to the transition protection after moving equivalent to sdp?

Thank you

Hi a7medbadger,

This is a topical issue as it can lead to a reduction in the UC Managed Migration Transitional Protection.
Have a read of this Rightsnet thread.
