Hello all.

I'm wondering what to do right now.

So I have multiple condtions , a genetic bone, muscle and nerve disorder, bowel and uriany condition that's under investigation as to what it is whether chrons, part of another disorder etc
My genetic one alongside many other issues causes chronic fatigue and pain. I have arthritis in jne leg, mental health issues , anxiety, learning difficulties, cognitive issues and adhd

I'm also under referral for ASD.

My main condition severely affects my mobility it's degenerative

I at first got awarded standard mob nothing else did a Mandatory reconsideration abd got standard both

My husband and I went into great detail on the forms of how it all affects daily life

I couldn't face tribuneral so we accepted the MR but wrote a letter stating I meet the criterias / deceptors? For higher mobility and have that and that the "we decided you can do xyz " goes compleatly against what we put and what my specialist put.

We left it at that. Then I had a review and we out that as expected my mobility is getting worse and I may need a wheelchair in the near future. We again stated I currently meet the requirements for higher mobility but will highly likely even more so by the next review.

Nothing changed...

I am now in a process of getting a wheelchair as well which I wasn't using before it's a long waiting list.

My review is now coming up again as they insist on keeping it every 2 years despite detailing how bad this is for my health and how severely this effects me...

But what do we do ?

I really suffer mentally and physically when I am assessed the thought of going through that again makes me sick. I vomit and panic over the review as it is...

If we push for mobility I'm likely to be reassessed...

But extra help i could really do wirh is tied into having the higher award

I'm so worried ill lose it all as well...

Hi little-laura

Welcome to the forum.

You might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is; www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/faq/forum.

The first question I would ask is have you ever contacted the DWP and ask for a copy of the assessors report?

When you have the assessors report, you will have a better understanding of how the DWP Decision Maker has come to their conclusions and you will now be able to argue against them.

I usually use a highlighter to highlight any inaccuracies, once you have gone through the report you then set out why you are applying for a MR and go through each descriptor one at a time why you disagree with the assessor and try and match it with any supporting documents you may have sent in.

Understand that the assessor is offering an opinion when they say 'in my opinion' you can do the PIP activities, tackling these head-on is unlikely to be successful, you need to show that the basis of that opinion is founded on incorrect information, so try and refer to your evidence to undermine what they have said, remember they are just an opinion which is not based on fact.

Also, try and stick to issues that lead to your scoring points, I often hear members referring to the assessors spelling, as an example, whilst it may show a lack of professionalism, raising it as an issue isn't going to help you get an award.

Your primary task is to show that you meet the criteria, there are many reasons you may have failed, you need to address each of these but don't get bogged down in criticising the assessment report unless you can clearly show that it is incorrect, it is a lot easier to argue the facts of the situation.

Lastly, make sure that you understand the criteria that you are being assessed against you can put the best case forward that is possible but you won't score points if you do not meet the PIP Descriptors.

have a look at our PIP MR & Appeal guide; benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/pip

Don't use grey words such as 'likely to worsen over time', when completing a form it should be in black and white.
