ESA to either New Style ESA or UC

Hi I am currently very confused!

I have been informed by the DWP, that as I currently qualify for receive both Income Related and Contribution based ESA, I will be moving to New Style ESA. However, I have read online that as I am in the Support Group and I'm also receiving PIP, that I cannot be moved to New Style ESA, and will instead be moved to UC. Can anyone clarify what I will be migrated on to?

Also, if it does turn out that I move onto New Style ESA, does that mean I'll lose my £76.40 Severely Disabled contribution as well as the £19.95 Disability Income Guarantee contribution?

Many thanks
JW

Hi JW,

To answer your question - "However, I have read online that as I am in the Support Group and I'm also receiving PIP, that I cannot be moved to New Style ESA, and will instead be moved to UC" That statement is incorrect as many people receive both Income Based ESA and Contribution Based ESA. On Managed Migration the Income Based ESA will become Universal Credit and the Contribution Based ESA will become New Style ESA.
The Income Based ESA premiums will stop.
You are best advised to contact Citizens Advice Help to Claim regarding your future Benefit entitlement. They are able to give you an estimate as they use a Transitional Protection calculator.

Let me know how you get on.
