UC work coach was created by Fiona
Hi, it’s me again. I honestly just don’t know where else to turn to. As you’re aware I moved from ESA to LCW UC at the beginning of this year. I’m still having problems with my work coach and it’s getting worse. A nice lady rang me and said she was sending a uc50 for me to fill and return as the details they held for me where from over 10 years ago. I filled it and and supplied supporting evidence and sent it off. On Friday I had my telephone appointment with my work coach I explained I’d done this he said he will check the system he then came back to me and addressed me by a totally different name I asked who this person was and he replied you and you’ve been awarded lcw. I reminded him of my name and then he got in a huff. He made my next appointment and I explained I have a hospital appointment that day to which he replied, so you can go out then which means you will have to start coming in here. I tried explaining most of my appointments are done over the phone but unfortunately steroid injections can’t be. He’s just really rude and quite nasty every time we speak. I rang uc helpline and asked if I could change work coach and explained that he is triggering my ptsd. They told me I have to write it on my journal to him which I did and now he’s totally ignoring me and I’m scared he will sanction me. I’ve not said I won’t have my appointments just that If possible I’d like a different work coach. Is there anything else I can do? Sorry for the paragraph I’m just totally worn down with all this now

Hi Fiona
I think that you did the correct thing by asking on your Journal to change Work Coach.
He cannot sanction you for that. The sanction, which is a reduction in Benefit, has to be made by a DWP Decision Maker and not a Work Coach. If you fail to attend your appointment without good reason. He could give you the Sanction form to complete which is then sent to a Decision Maker. But you have a medical appointment for steroid injections so that would be considered a good reason anyway.
Let me know how you get on.

Hi David, a lady rang and she’s now let me transfer to her instead. She was really nice and actually listened to all I had to say. She said fortnightly appointments were excessive so she’s dropped that down to monthly with herself. She did say he shouldn’t have said that because I attend medical appointments it means I can go out so I’ll just see how things go from here. Thankyou for your reply
