Hi All, I was personally looking for some advice.
I made a claim for UC on the 16th January after receiving a migration notice(Was in ESA support group). A couple of long stories short; I asked for a home visit because I have physical and serious mental health issues which was granted. Unfortunately the agent conducting the home visit voiced her displeasure because I didn’t want to produce a fit note. Anyway the appointment took place last Friday and my identification was verified. I was awarded the universal credit standard amount on Wednesday however I wasn’t awarded the LWRCA or TP or any other amount. I called UC today and they informed me that a case manager will be calling me on Monday to tell me why I will not be awarded the additional amounts. The help to claim service want to be on the call to hear the response from UC. Any advice will be grateful.

Hi Dan

The DWP have admitted that there are serious communication issues within different areas of the Benefits service such as ESA, UC and the Visiting Officer team. Basically they have different IT systems which are not yet synced. So it could be that your Visiting Office was unaware that you did not need to present a Fit Note.
Hopefully the Case Manager will admit the mistake on Monday. I'm glad Help to Claim are monitoring the situation.

Let me know how you get on.
David

Hi David,
The case manager didn’t get back to me, I however called UC and they informed me that the case manager has said that they cannot calculate any transitional protection money outstanding or LCWRA because they haven’t received any information from ESA yet! I first applied for UC on 15/01/25, my ESA claim ceased on 27/01/25.

Best

Hi David, I didn’t hear back from the case manager, however I called UC and they told me that the case manager was unable to award me any money either for transitional protection or LCWRA. The reason given was that they have yet to receive any information from ESA regarding my claim(I was in the support group), I find this strange because I made my UC claim on 15/01/25, and my ESA claim ended officially on 20/01/2025. Any advice about my next steps would be grateful

Hi Dan

I think you should make a complaint to a DWP manager via your journal. If you tell me the area that you are in ( County or City ) I will locate the manager responsible.

Hi David,

I made a phone claim for Universal Credit, however if you could send me the details of the manager then I could email them directly as I wouldn’t be able to do it via the online journal.
I’m based in South West London. I tried telling UC today that I need payment soon because I have people that come to clean my flat for me because of my illnesses and they need payment which I will have to delay, however I was told that I need to wait-it does seem strange David.
