I am long term disabled and live with my 94 year old mother who is now also disabled and has been able to claim AA, from my opinion, for a few years now, but due to the stress of living with her and her dementia, carers coming in and out of the house and my own health, i have not been able to fill forms in yet. I applied a year ago and sat looking at the forms. I applied again this year and have a cut off date for monday 7th april but again have been so unwell, especially this week, and caught up with care needs of my mother too that I have not yet completed the form. Is there any way I can ask for extended time? or can I give reasons for lateness of form and hope to be backpaid to the application date? thank you
AA application is not like PIP or DLA, there is no time limit in which to return the form.
What happens is that if you miss the return date, when you send in your completed form it will not be backdated to when you requested the forms but from when they received the completed forms.
If you are struggling to complete the form contact your local Welfare Rights Organisation for help or your local Age UK.
