PIP Result was created by JenBiddy40
I received a letter today to say that I have been awarded PIP. I thought this was so as the back pay went into my account last week. However, on reading the letter there a couple of points I think are possibly the wrong way around and I don't know if I need to report it and if so how and what that means, do I then have to start all over again?

On one of them, the points are correct but they have possibly clicked the wrong choice. On another the points are one point higher than on the correct selection (though this would not affect which category which I fall into).

On mobility, I said that I needed to rest at 50 metres before being able to return. They have listed as 1-20 metres. Would that be correct? There are some days when I cannot walk outside at all so I don't know if that has affected that?

Thank you for your help.

Hi JenBiddy40

I am so glad to hear, after all your worrying, that you have been awarded PIP. Honestly, I would just leave it be. Very few people have reports that are 100% correct. Remember, they are giving their 'opinion', and it doesn't always match what the claimant says. As you can't walk some days and you are in pain all the time, I think when you consider the reliability criteria, 1-20 metres is fair and accurate. Just because you didn't say that, it doesn't matter - it is what the decision maker thinks is fair.

Of course, you are free to tell them that you disagree with some of the points. They will add your comments to your record, but I doubt they will take any notice of them or act upon them.

Hi BIS

Thank you, I really appreciate that. I don't know why this stuff makes me so anxious, but it really does, it always has. It's why I left it ten years before claiming! So grateful though for all the advice, and wouldn't have been possible without all the guides. Thank you so much for your help.

As part of my assessment we discussed that I can't currently drive or work. If I am fortunate enough at some point in the future (I hope) to be able to do those a little bit, would I need to notify that?

Thanks again for everything.

Hi JenBiddy40

You're supposed to inform the DWP if your health improves, as it may impact on your award. However, this is not always as clear cut as it may appear. Say for example you drive twice in the next month. Would you inform the DWP? No, because this probably wouldn't be viewed as a sustainable improvement in your health. If you start work - it may mean that there have been some improvements, but it depends in what areas and for what criteria you have been awarded PIP.

Anyway, if your circumstances change, then come back and ask before you react to your natural anxiety and immediately jump in and contact the DWP. If and when you contact them, you want to be clear about exactly what you need to say.
