Inherenting money whilst on ESA was created by DJMH15
Hi David
From this person message, it sounds like he is on contributory ESA, and he is in the Support Group. Doesn't this means he is able to keep the contributory amount?
This is exactly what happened to me, last year, that's why I say it.
I know things change rapidly, but the poster has stated he is on ESA and in the Support Group?
Cheers

Hi DJMH15
There is no time limit for New Style ESA if you remain in the Support Group.

David,
Yes, so doesn't that mean the poster is most likely on a contributory award of new style esa (though might not be aware of that) and can therefore keep that, as well as the inheritance.
The reason I say this is because that is what happened to me. I phoned the dwp and asked to be taken off esa, which they immediately did. Then two days later got a call back from them saying they had made a mistake, and because I was on contributory esa (which i didnt realise because I had an income related top up), I could keep some of the esa whilst also having the inheritance (which took me marginally over the 16000 limit)...
Thx
