How much longer do i have to wait??

Hi ,
I have been on IB now for nearly 6 yrs
i was sent a IB50 form in september 09 , of which i returned on the 16th of Oct 09 .
As yet i have not had any letters back , every day i wait for the dreded brown envelope ! .
I did ring the Job centre plus and they said that Atos was very behind with work .
Then last week i recived a letter to go for a work focused interview (not had one for 3yrs) , i did attend and on there computer it said that a medical was due in September 09 ?? .
At job centre the interview went very well
and she told me not to worry .
Shall i just leave it or have i to give them a ring , or just wait for a decision .
I'm sick with worry ,

Hi,

You are not the only person in this situation by a long chalk.

I know of some people who sent their IB50's in last April and still haven't heard anything.

Just remember it is not your fault that ATOS cannot cope with things. They seem to be prioritising ESA claimants as there is a 13 week timescale for ESA but they seem not to be able to keep up with that in certain areas, let alone IB claimants.

As they should still be paying you, it maybe best to just let sleeping dogs lie and not chase them up about it (it is not your job to do that after all).

Sorry I cannot offer you any better advice but you are just one of numerous people who, through no fault of their own, are caught up in what seems a very large logjam.

Well it will be nearly 6 months now since i sent my IB50 form in completed on the 16th October 09 .
I still have not heard from Atos .
I know that they have recived the form , and i understand started to look at it in Dec 09 .
Can anyone please tell me that if i am sucessful in my claim , will the date be from October 09 , or Dec 09 , or even from the date that they finally started to look at it ..... hope that makes sence..
Never realized that Atos are more than 6 months behind .

Hi Tilly,

You have ben succesful in your claim in that it remains in payment. Your IB can't be stopped on medical grounds unless you have a medical assessment or are asked to attend a medical and fail to do so without good cause.

So your claim is still ongoing until something else happens.

Yes i'm still been paid IB , so i will just have to be patient .
Its just that last time i was only waiting
4wks for a reply , and i got 12 months .

Hi my name is mike ive been where you are
now. Please note as from what might happen
in the Gen Election its possible that Atos
will loose the contract as the incom new
gov cuts back. My cusions daughter works
for Atos they are worried and i think Atos
have cut back for fear of looseing the
gravy train contract they have. I would
strongly advise you to listen to steve as
what he says is correct and as they say
dont go looking for trouble. I know that
the worry is unfair but try and say to your
self your dealing with a system and its not
personel i was doing the same as you now
it goes in one ear and out the other. I
use threr system against them now have
