Is this usual practice? I've never heard of having to attend another medical while appealing the previous medical report?
I rund the JobCentrePlus, but the guy I spoke to said he couldn't tell me why I was asked for a medical, but I should go ahead and make the appointment.

At the moment I am appealing against the ESA decision finding me fit for work, and waiting for the tribunal hearing (in June). Two days ago I received a letter from Atos asking me to make another appointment for a medical.

It certainly doesn't seem right because as it stands you have failed the WCA, and according to the DWP based upon the evidence from Atos, you are fit for work.
You will need to ring Atos rather than DWP Jobcentreplus as they are responsible for arranging the medical assessments, and ask why you are required to attend a further assessment while you are waiting for an appeal hearing against the previous adverse WCA decision?

I've tried to get through to Atos (no success yet), but was unsure because in the letter asking for the appointment they said "if you would like more information about why you need a medical assessment, please contact the office that deals with your claim."

Thank you for the answer.

As Atos were responsible for sending the letter asking you to make an appointment for a further medical assessment, they should be able to explain the reason why they sent you the letter, if you manage to ever speak to them!
